A flamesprayed thermoplastic coating was applied in 2000 to the sheet piles of the Delta Pier, located at Naval Submarine Base at Bangor, Washington. That coating system quickly failed. This paper discusses several rehabilitation strategies, the construction restraints, and how these divergent factors were resolved.
A polyamide 12 (PA12) material has been specifically engineered. After laboratory testing, a significant project was developed to install PA12 in a sour, multiphase, pipeline. Material qualification program is discussed. Performance of the liner in service and inspection of test coupons are described.
Overview of thermoplastic liners used in oilfield pipelines - usually applied to pipelines that contain water as a component. Current practices. Terminology, techniques, and applications of liners in the oil field.
HISTORICAL DOCUMENT. Process to design, install, and operate a thermoplastic-lined oilfield pipeline. For use by liner installers, owners, materials suppliers, consultants, engineering firms.
There are very few markets that have not been affected by powder coatings. Powders are used widely throughout the automotive industry for underhood parts, wheels, trim, and as full body primers. Whereas it is unlikely that powder coatings will ever replace liquid color coats in automotive assembly plants, some companies have has made full body powder clear coats a reality.
Corrosion is a major concern for all materials during their service lives. In particular, salts such as sodium chloride (NaCl) are known to promote corrosion and detrimentally affect coating performance. Understanding how NaCl affects water uptake into a film and its interactions with corrosion-inhibiting pigments is important for developing the next generation of anticorrosive coatings.
