The corrosivity of four mercaptans and selected crude oil fractions were measured in lab tests. Conclusion: Mercaptan corrosion can contribute significantly to the total sulfur related corrosion in the temperature range 235–300°C, which agrees with observations of elevated temperature corrosion in refinery distillation equipment.

Five fungal organisms were isolated using Starkey media from the soil of corroded pipeline tank. The influence of these fungal isolates on both rusted and non – rusted mild steel plates were studied for a period of 25 days.
A 3-week corrosion testing of UNS N06625 was conducted in supercritical fluid at 350°C and 10 bars to simulate a geothermal environment where other alloys had been tested. Some localized corrosion occurred at a rate similar to previous results.
A top-of-the-line monitoring cell has been developed, that measures in-situ corrosion rates by electrochemical methods. The data presented in this paper have been conducted over 5 days at variable condensation rates to evaluate the feasibility and accuracy of the methods applied.
