The double loop electrochemical potentiokinetic reactivation (DL-EPR) response of Alloy 600 was characterized for a variety of grain boundary Cr depletion profiles. Solutions containing H2SO4 with either KSCN, Na2S4O6 or SC(NH2)2 were studied for their sensitivity to pitting and variations in the grain boundary Cr minimum and width of the depletion zone. Results show that a solution consisting of 0.1M H2SO4 + 0.0001M KSCN has good sensitivity to the grain boundary Cr minimum and produced minimal pitting. A solution of 0.5M H2SO4 + 0.001M SC(NH2)2 was slightly more sensitive to small amounts of Cr depletion than the KSCN solution. Solutions containing H2SO4 + Na2S4O6 were not
successfid as they did not consistently repassivate all heat treat
conditions. Keywords: Alloy 600, Cr depletion, DL-EPR
