The characterization of the corrosion behavior of an electrolytic alloy Ni-Co-B being deposited in a low C steel (AI SI-1018) was carried out using electrochemical methods where the corrosion rate was determined and a comparison with the corrosion rates obtained by a
gravimetric method are also included. The solutions used in this study were: HCI 0.1 M H2SO4 0.1 M and KOH at 28%. All tests were performed at room temperature. From the results obtained, the sulfuric acid solution has shown higher corrosion comparable with the others solutions used.
Furthermore, the corrosion rates are quite low showing that this
electrolytic alloy has a good corrosion resistance. This behavior could be due to the formation of a passivation film or several passivation films.
