A method of de-noising based on empirical mode decomposition (EMD) for coulostatically-induced transients
(CITs) is presented. This filtering was illustrated with CIT and its associated impedance spectra, and comparisons have
been made with wavelet de-noising and FIR method. The results reported here demonstrate that EMD de-noising is
applicable to coulostatic measurements data in both the time and frequency domains, where wavelet filtering can also
be successful. Moreover, in cases where the non-linear CITs need de-noise, EMD can eliminate noisy data from CIT.
The proposed method shows superior performance over the traditional methods and is an alternative de-noising method
for the CITs analysis.
